Oxon CE Primary School

Children study a wide number of different historical periods within school.  The different units of work studied, are all designed to make history ‘come alive’ for the children.  Key strategies include the use of educational visits, visitors to school and high quality resources.  An important focus throughout school is developing children’s skills as historians, a focus on using different sources of evidence is particularly important.

Over recent years visits have included:

  • Shropshire Archives
  • Attingham Park
  • Weston Park
  • Blists Hill Open Air Museum
  • National Memorial Arboretum
  • Shrewsbury Flaxmill
  • Roman Experience Chester
  • Historic Shrewsbury
  • Acton Scott Working Farm
  • Liverpool
  • Llangollen Steam Railway
