The school follows the Shropshire Agreed Syllabus for R.E. which provides opportunities for children to develop their knowledge and understanding of Christianity and World Faiths. R.E is taught to foster knowledge, understanding and respect of our diverse local and global community. Pupils study Christianity through the key concepts of God, Creation, Fall, Incarnation, Salvation, Gospel, Kingdom of God and people of God. Pupils study world faiths such as Islam, Judaism and Sikhism. Pupils develop knowledge, understanding and respect of different beliefs, values, traditions and worldviews.
R.E is taught through the school in specific lessons. Pupils are encouraged to consider World Views and how to value different viewpoints. In the Early Years Foundation Stage, R.E.and World Views is taught in the area of learning ‘Understanding the world’.
The school has close links with Christ Church, Oxon and visits are made as part of the R.E. work. Our Vicar also visits school regularly as part of the children’s R.E. activities. The school invites visitors of world faiths to work with pupils on a regular basis.
Parents have the right to withdraw their children from all or part of R.E. if they prefer.
