The children compose, perform and appraise, and listen to a range of high-quality music.
The children work independently and in groups to compose, practise, perform and appraise simple compositions using tuned and un-tuned percussion instruments. They learn a selection of songs from a variety of cultures and listen to and comment upon a range of musical styles. In Year 3, children begin to learn the recorder and start to read staff notation. The vocabulary for remaining inter-related dimensions of music are all introduced, explained and used.
