Focus area: ‘Victorian Shrewsbury and Shropshire with a particular focus on local history’, ‘Britains settlement by the Anglo-Saxons’.

During history sessions, the children investigate what life was like in the local area during Victorian times. They use a range of different sources including maps, census data, photographs and material from the internet. The children take part in trips to the old school, Shrewsbury Archives and Blists Hill, to gain a greater insight into conditions for children during this time. These visits enable In addition the children study Britain’s settlement by the Anglo-Saxons including the Viking and Anglo-Saxon struggle for the Kingdom of England at the time of Edward the Confessor.
